How smart technology is powering a greener NHS by James Leitch

BRAVIA BZ-P Series, Crystal LED S Series and Sustainability-Driven Innovation

April 16th, 2025

Sony used ISE to unveil a series of new display innovations, while reinforcing its continued focus on sustainability. As a Sony Gold Partner, we took the opportunity to meet with Karl Ingham, Mark Stanborough, and Kevin Donnelly to see the latest developments firsthand.

Sony launch BRAVIA BZ-P Series

Central to the Sony stand at ISE was the launch of the new BRAVIA BZ-P Series, a comprehensive refresh of its professional display portfolio. Spanning 16 models across three tiers; the flagship BZ40P, enhanced BZ35P and core BZ30P, the range covers screen sizes from 43 to 85 inches to meet the varied demands of corporate, retail and public-sector environments.

Scheduled to ship in summer 2026, the BZ-P Series combines a slim, uniform bezel design with Deep Black Non-Glare technology and a high-haze panel coating that significantly reduces reflections without compromising image quality. Powered by Sony’s AI-driven signal processing, the displays deliver accurate colour reproduction and 400 to 700 cd/m² brightness, ensuring strong visibility across varied lighting conditions. With up to 47% anti-glare capability, wide viewing angles and IP5X dust resistance, the series is not only ideal for office spaces but is also well suited to demanding environments including transport hubs, retail spaces, warehouses and industrial settings.

From an integration perspective, it was clear Sony has prioritised ease of deployment. A reduced 1.8-inch depth, universal chassis design, centrally positioned VESA mount and narrow, uniform bezels simplify mounting and videowall alignment. Larger 75- and 85-inch models include integrated carrying handles to support on-site transport, while the adoption of a system-on-chip architecture removes the need for external media players, streamlining digital signage deployments.

It was encouraging to see the emphasis Sony has placed on quality and practicality across the BZ-P Series. The improvements in chassis design and system-on-chip architecture will help reduce installation time and simplify deployment for our teams, while the breadth of the range ensures we can confidently support a wide variety of client requirements. We are keen to see the range arrive this summer and begin specifying it within upcoming deployments.

Crystal LED S Series

Sony also expanded its commercial LED portfolio with the launch of the Crystal LED S Series, introducing two slimmer models designed to bridge the gap between professional BRAVIA displays and large-scale dvLED installations. Positioned as a strong mid-market option, the series is well suited to corporate, education and retail environments seeking high-impact visual performance without the scale of fully bespoke LED deployments.

The new ZRD-S12G and ZRD-S15G models, available from late spring 2026, deliver 800 cd/m² brightness with 1.25mm and 1.56mm pixel pitch options, ensuring sharp, vibrant imagery even in bright environments. Sony’s Anti-Reflection Surface Technology further enhances visibility by reducing glare, making the displays particularly effective in well-lit, high-footfall spaces.

As with the BRAVIA displays, practical deployment remains a key focus. The Crystal LED S Series features a slim 45mm cabinet depth, improved cable management with accessible rear apertures, as well as a bezel-free modular design which enables scalable video wall configurations. Furthermore, the panel’s surface treatment offers protection against accidental contact in public spaces or high-traffic spaces such as lobbies and reception areas.

For Cinos, the Crystal LED S Series is a welcome addition to the portfolio. Every year, we deliver display solutions in high-impact spaces; from government hubs to corporate innovation centres, where practical performance and visual clarity are paramount. As a high-quality, cost-conscious option, the series provides the right balance of performance and value, making it a solution we anticipate recommending for future projects.

A Focus on Sustainability

While on stand with Karl, Mark, and Kevin, sustainability was a central topic. It framed discussions around product innovations and upcoming client requirements and was further reinforced through insights into Sony’s Green Management 2030 initiative.

From a product perspective, the benefits were clear. The BRAVIA BZ-P Series achieves around 31% lower energy consumption than previous models thanks to its high-efficiency optical system and AI-driven backlight control, while increased use of Sony’s SORPLAS recycled plastic further reduces environmental impact. Complementing this, the Crystal LED S Series, designed for long-term use, provides an energy-efficient architecture that lowers surface temperature, reduces power consumption, and drives down total cost of ownership.

But sustainability extended beyond the products themselves and speaking with Kevin Donnelly reinforced how it remains a guiding principle across the business. Kevin highlighted the Green Management 2030 initiative, sharing how Sony has set medium-term targets for 2026–2030, including a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain and powering all operations with 100% renewable electricity.

PTZ Camera Update and Collaboration with Ameria

Outside of our notable product updates, it was good to see innovations across the wider Sony ecosystem. Firmware updates to its PTZ auto-framing cameras introduce practical new features, including improved framing and tracking options, while its collaboration with Ameria showcased immersive applications, combining Sony’s Spatial Reality Display with Ameria’s StarKit software to deliver interactive, touch-free 3D experiences.

With the launch of the latest display innovations we see exciting opportunities to deliver practical and impactful solutions for our client base. This was equally underpinned by Sony’s commitment to placing sustainability at the heart of their roadmap. With customers now expecting demonstrable environmental responsibility from their technology providers, it is reassuring to partner with an organisation leading the way in this space.
